Substance Abuse
Substance Abuse
Life Line Resources has demonstrated a commitment to the holistic health of the individuals, families and communities it serves. In working with families in crisis it becomes clear quickly that substance abuse and addiction are one of the issues that play a strong role in the dysfunction that many of our families are experiencing. In our desire to assist these families on a path to wellness, Life-Line Resources has developed substance abuse/addiction treatment programming for both adolescent and adult clientele, known as Life-Line Recovery.
In the Des Moines area we provide out-patient treatment programming for adolescents. This programming, partners with Juvenile Court Services, Dept. of Human Services, and Polk County Drug court, to ensure we are collaboratively meeting the needs of adolescents’ served. In understanding that drug abuse and addiction impact the whole family system, part of our adolescent programming also works with parents or caregivers in re-establishing healthy family functioning.
In Warren County, Life-Line Recovery is providing extensive out-patient programming for adults. This programming primarily serves clients who are referred by the Dept. of Human Resources, Adult Drug Court, Warren County Probation/Parole offices and Warren County Substance Abuse. We are excited to provide this programming to the rural areas, which previously have not had substance abuse treatment to offer. In providing treatment in the rural areas, we are overcoming many barriers which previously had contributed to the break-down of many families in crisis. We provide treatment in the evening hours, which allows parents to maintain job commitments, thereby not presenting additional financial stress to the home. We provide treatment on a sliding fee scale, making it affordable to everyone wanting treatment. Our treatment philosophy encourages family involvement in programming and includes a strong after-care component, with referrals to community agencies and supportive services.
Prior to services being provided in our area, barriers such as transportation, transportation cost, time of treatment, lack of cohesiveness between Des Moines service providers and rural county resources, has resulted in many individuals not following through with treatment programming or aftercare services. Sadly, what will follow are usually strong consequences on the individual, jail time, child removal/ longer DHS involvement/ longer judicial involvement, etc., and the impact of this on families and children is extensive.
So it was with the known facts of how the lack of services in this area was impacting our most innocent members of society, the children, that Life-Line Recovery was created. It is our continued hope that providing comprehensive treatment programming locally, and partnered with other Life-Line programming that we can holistically treat the individual and the family for long term wellness.
